Global Award Nomination for Investor Fraud Project
Press release issued on September 23, 2014
A project involving SIA, GSBEP and three global law firms has been nominated for an impact award. The award, sponsored by Thomson Reuters Foundation, will be given in a ceremony in London in November. Only three projects from the whole world have been shortlisted for this award.
The project involves improving GSBEP’s capacity to investigate investor fraud. As part of the project the lawyers summarised best practices from selected countries. GSBEP is now implementing some of the best practices by applying it to an actual case. Details of the investigation process and outcome will be shared with investors, to show what is actually being done to protect investors.
“We are very privileged to have the opportunity to work closely with global law firms, and to showcase our efforts to an international audience. The knowledge and experience that lawyers shared with us will help state agencies like GSBEP to update their procedures to meet foreign investors expectations”, said Mr. Anarbek Kalmatov, Chairman of SIA.
Further details on the award and the case will be posted on the SIA website (www.siakg.com)
